Our School
Cedar Riverside Adult Education (CRAEC) is the partnership of the Riverside Plaza Tenants Association (RPTA), Brian Coyle Community Center, and Minneapolis Public Schools Adult Basic Education.
At Cedar Riverside Adult Education Collaborative (CRAEC), we empower English language learners with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in their communities. Whether it’s applying for a job, assisting children with homework, or scheduling appointments, our mission is to help students learn English effectively.
Our experienced and culturally-aware teachers create a welcoming classroom environment, fostering a sense of belonging. Students not only build language skills but also form supportive, close-knit communities. Many of our staff members speak multiple languages commonly used by our learners, further enhancing the learning experience.
Most CRAEC students come from Somalia and Ethiopia, with others hailing from countries like Vietnam, Mexico, Syria, Yemen, Palestine, and Iraq. Volunteers from nearby universities and the Twin Cities community contribute by providing conversation practice, computer instruction, and one-on-one tutoring.
Our partnerships with organizations housed at the Brian Coyle Community Center and the Opportunity Center ensure students can access essential services while pursuing their education.
Finding us is simple! CRAEC’s office is located on the main floor of the E building in Riverside Plaza. The Resource Center at this location offers a computer lab for residents and students, where you can access the internet, make copies, send or receive faxes, and sign up for English classes.
Conveniently located near the light rail (both the Green and Blue lines) and multiple bus routes, CRAEC is easy to reach. Visit us or contact us with your questions—we’re excited to welcome you!
MISSION
The Cedar Riverside Adult Education Collaborative (CRAEC) exists to teach adults the skills and provide the support necessary to pursue personal education and employment goals.
